If at first you don't succeed - medication
Having spoken to a few ladies now and pointed them in the direction of Menopause Doctor, Newson Health, my blog and once armed ... their own GP.
I have heard mainly success stories of getting it but with a couple of people not getting on with the HRT straight away. This is where sadly I become unhelpful as I haven't had to deal with this.
So on this score I would say again go and look through some of the podcasts or factsheets on the Menopause Doctor website https://www.menopausedoctor.co.uk and go back to your GP.
One thing I will say from my research before starting my HRT, is that it can take up to 3 months before it works. You may also need to play around with doses and different types. e.g. you may not get on with the gel but the spray will work or the patch.
I got told with my Lenzetto dose to try for a month and if my symptoms didn't improve - which they substantially have. Increase to two squirts a day. One Lenzetto pump is the equivalent of two pumps of the Oestrogel for instance. Also this could change during the month and you can pump or squirt accordingly :-)
Please, please read through the below factsheets. They are so very helpful and ultimately I am not a doctor! There are specific ones about dosing and equivalent dosing for patches/gel/spray and also what they are made of. Sadly, your GP may not be as up to date as the amazing people at the Menopause Doctor team.

One thing I will say though is to be sure to get the body identical stuff made from yams. If you start taking non micronised progesterone or non transdermal oestrogen the risk factor does change... not necessarily to a bad level but it does change.
I now consider myself very fortunate that I have reacted to it in such a positive way, very quickly. I don't know how much of this has to do with the fact I am in perimenopause and not menopause yet. So at the moment I am just topping up what I already have. If you are starting from a post menopause base - logic says to me it will take a bit longer to get right.
